ICD-Code I67.0: Dissection of cerebral arteries

The vascular wall of one or more arteries in your brain has been damaged.

Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood. The arteries have a vascular wall. This vascular wall consists of 3 layers. There has been a tear in the innermost layer or one or more arteries in your brain. If the innermost layer is torn, blood can get between the layers of the blood vessel wall. This could prevent enough blood from flowing through the blood vessel. If the brain is not supplied with enough blood as a result, the brain tissue in the affected areas of the brain could become damaged.

You can then have various problems. For example, you can get headaches. The problems you experience also depend on the exact location and size of the area affected.
