ICD-Code I67.6: Nonpyogenic thrombosis of intracranial venous system

Blood clots have formed in one or more veins in your brain.

Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart. Blood clots occur when components of the blood clump together. They can block the veins. As a result, the blood can no longer flow properly and backs up. This can damage the brain tissue.

The problems caused depend on the exact location and size of the area affected. You may experience headaches or seizures, for example. You might feel dizzy. The person may also lose consciousness.
