ICD-Code E89.3: Postprocedural hypopituitarism

Your pituitary gland is not producing enough hormones after a treatment or examination.

The pituitary gland is a gland in the brain. Many hormones are produced in this gland. Hormones are chemical messengers for the body. These messengers produced by the pituitary gland influence growth, metabolism and sex hormones, for example.

If the pituitary gland does not produce enough hormones, the level of some hormones in the blood may be too low. As a result, you may have various symptoms. Growth and metabolism may be altered, for example. The functioning of the thyroid gland and other glands in the body may be restricted. Psychological symptoms can occur, too.
