ICD-Code F64.0: Transsexualism
You feel that you belong to a gender other than the gender you were assigned at birth.
Your personal identity emerges over the course of your emotional development. Your identity is the image you have of yourself. Part of your identity is your gender identity. This is your internal sense of which gender you belong to. Some people identify with the female gender, some with the male gender. Some people may feel that they belong to both genders or to no specific gender.
This can give rise to the desire to take on the role of the gender with which you identify in your daily life and to be recognized in this gender role by other people. They may also want to have gender reassignment treatment.
