Your personal identity emerges over the course of your emotional development. Your identity is the image you have of yourself. Part of your identity is your gender identity. This is your internal sense of which gender you belong to. Some people identify with the female gender, some with the male gender. Some people may feel that they belong to both genders or to no specific gender.
