Part of your lung is hyperinflated.
The lungs consist of a right-hand and a left-hand lung. These lungs, in turn, consist of various pulmonary lobes. There are 3 pulmonary lobes in the right-hand lung. There are 2 pulmonary lobes in the left-hand lung.
If there is less tissue than normal in one part of the lungs, adjacent lung tissue may stretch and expand into that space and become hyperinflated. One possible reason for this is that part of the lung was removed in the past. Parts of the lung may also shrink as a result of disease. When parts of the lung expand and hyperinflate, there is then more air than normal in those areas.
