ICD-Code Q78.4: Enchondromatosis

You have a condition that causes multiple growths of new tissue inside your bones.

Bone tissue or cartilage tissue multiplies in the affected sites. These new tissue growth typically occur in the bones of the hands, arms, legs or feet. However, other bones may also be affected. The new tissue growth is caused by changes in the genetic information within the affected tissue.

The affected bones may take on an abnormal shape or become bowed or curved due to the increased tissue. If new tissue grows near a joint, it may alter the shape of the affected joint. This may make it more difficult to move. Bone growth may be inhibited, causing the affected bones to be shorter than normal. There may also be increased bone fractures.
