A single-use endoscope was used for the endoscopic examination of your small intestine.
The intestines are made up of the small intestine and the large intestine or colon. The small intestine connects to the stomach. The nutrients are absorbed into the blood from the food in the small intestine.The first part of the small intestine is also called the duodenum. This part is directly connected to the stomach and the lower part of the small intestine. The small intestine is lined with mucous membrane.
Endoscopy enables an internal examination of the first part of the small intestine. For the purpose of the examination, a flexible tube is normally inserted via the oesophagus. This flexible tube is called an endoscope. The endoscope is only used once for your examination and is disposed of afterwards.
