During surgery, your dura mater at the front of the skull base was closed.
On the outside of the brain and spinal cord there are three thin meninges (linings). A tough meninx, the dura mater, is on the outside. Below that are two soft meninges.
The brain is surrounded by a protective shell of bone, known as the skull or cranium.The lower part of the cranial bone is called the base of the skull. The brain rests on these bones from the inside.
When someone has an opening in their dura mater, an operation can close it. Artificial material or the body’s own tissue can be used to close the opening.
