OPS-Code 5-036.8:

Operations on spinal cord, spinal cord membranes and spinal canal: Plastic operations on spinal cord and spinal cord membranes: Spinal duraplasty

During surgery, your spinal dura mater was closed.

The spinal cord is located in the spinal column. The spinal cord is made up of nerve fibers. The brain uses the nerve fibers to exchange information with the organs, skin and muscles. On the outside of the brain and spinal cord there are three thin meninges (linings). A tough meninx, the dura mater, is on the outside. Below that are two soft meninges.

During some procedures, it is necessary to cut through the dura mater. The dura mater can also be damaged for other reasons. Damaged or cut areas of the dura mater can be closed again using your body’s own tissue or synthetic material.
