The stomach is located in the upper abdomen. The stomach has a bag-like shape. It is connected to the gullet (esophagus) at its upper end and to the first part of the small intestine at its lower end. Between the stomach and the small intestine there is a circular sphincter, the pylorus. The inside of the stomach is lined with mucous membrane.
Previous surgery involved removing some or all of your stomach. You have now had another operation in your stomach area.
An endoscopic examination of your stomach was performed in order to treat your stomach. An endoscopic examination of your stomach involves advancing a tube into the stomach via the mouth.Images from the examined area can be transmitted to the outside via the tube. It can then be seen whether the tissue is healthy or changed.
