OPS-Code 5-788.56:

Operations on other bones: Operations on metatarsals and phalanges of the foot: Osteotomy: Digitus I

During surgery, you had one or more of the bones in your big toe cut during an operation.

The foot is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The lower leg is connected to the tarsus. Then comes the metatarsus and then the individual toes. The big toe consists of 2 toe bones. The other toes consist of 3 toe bones.

After bones have been cut, the bone pieces can be put back together in a slightly different position. This makes it possible to change the position of the bones, for example.
