During an arthroscopy, calcium deposits next to your shoulder joint were removed.
The shoulder joint is the joint between the shoulder blade and the humerus.The tendons of various muscles run next to the shoulder joint.Tendons are made up of very firm connective tissue. Tendons attach muscles to bones.Calcium can build up in these tendons or other soft tissue.Soft tissue includes muscles, fatty tissue and connective tissue, for example.
An arthroscopy first involves making a small incision in the skin. A thin tube is advanced through this incision. There is a camera at the top of the tube. The camera transmits images of the inside of the joint to a screen. Instruments such as forceps and scissors can be inserted into the joint through other small incisions.
