The thin layer of cartilage at the edge of the glenoid cavity in your shoulder joint has been firmly reattached to the bone.
The shoulder joint is the joint between the shoulder blade and the humerus.There is a flat recess to the side of the shoulder blade. This is the glenoid cavity. In the glenoid cavity is the spherical upper end of the humerus. This is the head of the humerus.The edge of the glenoid cavity is encircled by a thin layer of cartilage which slightly enlarges the surface of the joint. This stabilizes the shoulder joint.
This narrow layer of cartilage had previously torn away. The layer of cartilage was reattached to the bone as part of an arthroscopy.An arthroscopy first involves making a small incision in the skin. A thin tube is advanced through this incision. There is a camera at the top of the tube. The camera transmits images of the inside of the joint to a screen. Instruments such as forceps and scissors can be inserted into the joint through other small incisions.
