You have once again received an artificial joint replacement, after one had previously been removed.
When a joint is badly worn or injured, it may be painful or less mobile. It is then possible to get an artificial joint replacement. This can involve replacing only certain parts of the joint or the entire joint. The joint replacement is anchored in the bone.
If problems arise with a joint replacement, it may sometimes need to be removed. The affected area can become inflamed, for example. A new joint replacement is then inserted only at a later stage, after the symptoms have subsided.
