Then comes the metatarsus and then the individual toes.The metatarsus consists of 5 elongated metatarsal bones.The big toe consists of 2 toe bones. The other toes consist of 3 toe bones.The individual phalanges of the foot are connected to each other via a joint.Joints are encased in a joint capsule.The joint capsule contains synovial fluid. This enables the bones to slide easily past one another.
The needle can be used, for example, to drain excess synovial fluid, pus, or blood from the joint.
