Your unborn baby was turned from the outside so that they were lying head-down.
In the final weeks of pregnancy, the baby usually turns into the birth position. Typically, the baby's head is then pointing downwards and is positioned in the mother's pelvis. The baby’s face is usually turned towards the mother’s back and the baby’s head is flexed towards its chest. The baby’s back is turned to the mother’s right or left side.
If a baby is not in the head-down position, experienced medical personnel can perform what is called external cephalic version. This involves gentle pressure being applied externally to specific areas of the abdomen and the baby underneath. Through various maneuvers, the baby is then turned so that their head points downwards.
