This treatment is used for cancer, for example. With cancer, cells in the body are pathologically altered and multiply unchecked. The treatment normally involves binding an antibody to a chemotherapy drug. This drug damages pathologically altered cells. The antibodies can identify pathologically altered cells in a targeted way and bind to them. As a result, the drug reaches the pathologically altered cells directly and can damage them more effectively.
